on the western edge of the forest, in the steeper part of the mountain's foothills, rises a sharp cliff. the ground up to it is sloped, steep but manageable. at the bottom of the short cliff is a small hole in the rock, large enough to fit through. this hole leads down into a small cave, sheltered from the wind, but, due to its drop in elevation from the entrance, it is susceptible to rain and snow. at the back of the cave, however, the rock turns to hard clay which can easily be dug through. though there are no apparent water sources nearby, prey such as rabbits and squirrels frequent the cliff, meaning that four canines could be supported here.

connecting to the pool at the base of Silver Falls, this creek snakes its way through the pine forest, serving as a watering point for many inhabitants of the woods. its banks are steep, carved from the hard dirt and rock over many years. one should take caution when entering or exiting the creek bed. there are fish here and, though they are mostly minnows, they are numerous. crayfish can always be found beneath the rocks, if one was so determined to find them. the supply of fresh water as well as the high probability of prey animals coming to drink mean that six canines could be supported here.

the trees here are tall and thin, their branches far beyond a wolf's reach. they are spaced widely, the forest floor blanketed in pine needles, choking out any would-be foliage. this grove was named for the fact that pine cones are plentiful year-round. many squirrels, rabbits, and other small animals favorite this grove for it's nutrient-rich cones. smaller deer such as whitetail can also be found here, making this a good hunting spot, so long as you can stalk them in an open forest with no bushes to hide behind. the abundance of prey, and dips in the land that create small pools of water, means that five canines could be supported here.

this eastern section of the forest is dead and barren. having been burned out by a wildfire in recent years, the land is still charred and ashen. it will be many years before new sprouts can finally push their way through the rubble and start rejuvenating the land. there are puddles here and there, though they are full of soot, and mice, rabbits, and birds still etch out an existence here, meaning that three canines could be supported.
