the wolf god of fire, Torsch, is said to favorite this place. a sharp rise in the badlands, paralleled on both sides by deep gulches, looks similar to a canine's vertebrae. the sun beats down unmercifully during the spring, summer, and fall, easily scorching anyone unlucky enough to be trapped here. there is, however, some refuge to be found in the shade of the gulches during certain parts of the day. given that there is little water, one would have to dig long and hard to find it, and there are only scorpions and snakes as food, only two canines could be supported here.

if such a terrible misnomer existed, it would be this place. far from green, this gully is dry and arid. the dirt slopes look easy enough to climb, but the loose sediment makes it a very difficult task indeed. young and old can easily become trapped here, unable to ascend the slopes to freedom. at the deepest part of the gully exists a small patch of cracked earth. if one were to dig hard enough, muddy water could be found beneath. birds call this place home, providing a meal, if you can reach their nests. two canines could be supported here.

the badlands are a nasty place, full of impossible slides, deep trenches, and sharp rock. a brief reprieve, this plateau is situated along the outer edge of the southern badlands. from here, one would have an excellent view of the terrain, but there is no shelter, and the wind and sun and relentless. there are no water sources nearby, and only a passing snake accounts for food, meaning that only one canine could be supported here.

a true wonder of nature, this part of the badlands holds beautiful rock arches. wind and rain alike have carved these wondrous structures over many generations, making this a very popular place to visit. be warned, however, that the multitude of small holes in the rock face are home to venomous snakes and scorpions. caution is advised in this scenic terrain. amidst the maze of arches exists a small pool of water, hot from the sun, fed by a trickle in the rocks. the existence of water and prey, though one would have to be quick to avoid being bitten or stung, means that three canines could be supported here.

Board Information

THE BADLANDS
on the eastern edge of the reserve, to the north of the desert, lies the badlands. the grass of the plains shortens and browns, fading into the dry dusty terrain that surrounds the very edge of the badlands. though the badlands have an unmatched beauty, they can be a deathtrap. the slopes down into the valleys are nothing but loose sediment, making the climb back up all but impossible.
