iN-CHARACTER ! seasons & aging 01. Every season will last four weeks. Which means that one IC year is equal to 16 weeks (approximately 4 months) real time. This can be sped up (or slowed down) if members wish it, just shoot us a message! 02. Breeding season is in Winter, and birthing season is in Spring. 03. All characters must age with the IC year. They can't stay three years old forever, and ages will be monitored. Litters will age with the IC year as well; During Spring offspring are newborns. During Summer offspring are 6 months old. During Fall offspring are 9 months old. During Winter offspring are 11 months old. The next Spring marks 1 year of age. 04. There is an item you can buy to prolong your character's lifespan by delaying aging, but it can only be purchased three times per character, and the price increases with each purchase. See the Shop for more information (located in the top navigation bar). 05. A character is considered a pup until they reach 1 year of age. A character is considered a young adult from 1 year to 3 years of age. A character is considered an adult from 3 years to 11 years of age. A character is considered an elder (or senior) from 11 years until death. Death (from old age) typically occurs between 12 - 14 years, for both wolves and dogs. We understand that this isn't exactly realistic, but it is a generality that works for both species, and allows the roleplay world to run smoothly. posting 01. We have a minimum word limit of 300 words. We all have bad days, and a post here or there beneath the limit is fine, but if you consistently post beneath the minimum further steps may be taken. If you don't know what else to add to your posts, or simply want some advice, please feel free to contact the staff and we'll give you some pointers. 02. Please be literate and use proper spelling and grammar. If you wish to use all lowercase letters, that's fine. Just be sure that you spell everything correctly and use the correct words, etc. 03. If you use OOC in the IC boards, please clearly mark it. Useless messages should be saved for the general nonsense board, please. breeding 01. Wolves and dogs become sexually mature at 3 years old, and become infertile at 11 years old. 02. You cannot breed two of your own characters. 03. There will be no rape or force-breeding. Period. 04. You can only breed/birth during the specified seasons. 05. Both males and females may breed as many times as they wish during the season, but females may only become pregnant once. The father will be chosen by the picking of a random number, with each male who bred with the female assigned a single number. 06. Breeding may occur anywhere you want and may last as long as you want but there is to be absolutely no graphic breeding. If you don't want to roleplay the breeding, you may simply agree in character (i.e. male says "you want to have pups?" female says "yes") and skip the act. 07. The breeding thread must be finished in the next consecutive breeding season to count toward a litter of pups. It can be started outside of the season with no consequence. If the breeding thread is not completed in the next consecutive breeding season, it becomes forfeit and cannot be used as a breeding thread in the future. 08. Once you have bred, go to the Babies board and post the parents' stats and wait for the Stork to drop off the stats for your offspring. This typically doesn't take long, so don't worry about an anxious wait! 09. You may give birth any time after you receive your offspring's stats, as long as it is within the correct season and correct year. If you do not birth the litter before the end of Spring, then it may be considered a miscarriage or a false pregnancy, and you will have complete the entire process again next IC year if you want to have a litter. 10. A wolf or dog may become pregnant at any time, even when a pack has reached its resource limit. The pups will not pull on resources until they become young adults at 1 year old. Once the pups reach young adulthood, however, the pack must have resources to support them. If the resources are not available, then the pups (now young adults) will be forced out of the pack and made into loners. 11. When born, pups who will not be played by the parents' roleplayers must be put up for adoption. While waiting to be adopted, the parents' roleplayers may roleplay the pups from the parent(s) account as NPCs. If no one adopts the pups by the time they become young adults (1 year of age), and the parents' roleplayers cannot or do not want to keep playing them, then the pup(s) will 'disappear.' This will be explained IC as something like they wandered off, got lost, or were killed, however you wish to say it. The characters themselves can then be placed in the adoption board in the hopes that someone will pick them up later on, or killed off entirely. If someone adopts the character down the line, they can say they returned from wherever they 'disappeared' to. |
