NAME: Jesk di Vykladei
NAME MEANING: Fang of the Snake
AGE: 3 years
BIRTHDATE: Spring, 2010
GENDER: female
SPECIES: timber wolf
ORIENTATION: bisexual
PACK: n/a
RANK: n/a
HEIGHT: 30 inches
WEIGHT: 87 pounds
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Though the wolfess does not often seem to think so, she does stand at a decent height. For her build, especially, such a statement is more fact than opinion. Jesk is incredibly fast; her limbs are almost too short to be proportional, and her torso is compact in nature. She is more stream-lined than curvy, though such an obversance may be the product of her dense hair more than a lack of femininity. Deep is her chest cavity and her spine carries a constant (but slight) downward curve, as though her hind limbs are a bit longer than the fore. Possessing the capacity for high speeds and high leaping ability, there is still something about her appearance that she does find pride in.
Considering the various colors that battle for dominance along her coat, Jesk is both classic and unique in appearance. While this could perhaps help her in being attractive, she doesn't take much time in maintaining a spotless coat, much less seek out a reflection to be sure. Often she will have small twigs or leaves entwined in her hairs, having picked them up from a cluster of trees or some such example. The woman's hair lightens the lower it rests upon her body; along her back is a medium- to dark-gray, while her toes are a cream (nearly white) coloration. Such colors on her body are merely an overlay for her most distinct hue, which is almost tan. Her eyes are a bold, fiery amber.
PERSONALITY: Losing one's parents at a young age can have a drastic effect on the mannerisms of the adult. In the case of Jesk and her siblings, they grew upon one another with no clear distinction of what was right and wrong. Perhaps it should have been easy to establish such things as treating others the way you would want to be treated, do not steal meals from the weakest, etc. But it wasn't, and life did not slow down just for the lonely pups to learn this to be so. Though Jesk herself tries her hardest to suppress any such memory of struggle from her childhood, she can't quite remove the personality traits that she gained from growing up in such a hectic environment.
As all youngsters do, the siblings learned to manipulate each other early into their lives. Utilizing all tactics necessary to gain the rights to eat most of whatever sparse meal they managed to gather; constantly vying to be the leading role among their group, though none of them quite knew what true leading entailed; etc. Jesk uses such a well practiced skill to avoid speaking about her past, for the most part. While she does sometimes attempt to persuade those she meets to do small favors for her, for the most part it is merely herself that she is trying to convince. It's easier not to think of certain things when there's something to distract your mind or otherwise keep you busy.
Which could perhaps explain why Jesk seems to enjoy finding distraction in violence. A fire burns in all of Ruger's children, and their unorthodox upbringing only added fuel to them all. Despite being a creature more fitted to speed than to strength, the wolfess does not often shy away from a challenge of the physical sort. Truthfully, Jesk will more-likely take a bite at any animal or object that she thinks is in her way, rather than talk (or run) her way around it. Though she will not openly admit it, such a mind-frame stems from guilt and regret. Back when she was a teenager, someone should have battled Weyog, but back then she was too meek. Nevermore.
Truly, Jesk holds deep inside of herself the constant turmoil of the past's infliction. Constantly hiding behind harsh words and bared teeth, the wolfess still has growing to do and hasn't quite realized it yet. It is not so readily apparent due to the false-face she portrays, but she is easily frightened and fairly ignorant to the realities of the world around her. Such are the ways of a child who was raised on the misfortune of her siblings.
FATHER: Tovpir di Vykladei
MOTHER: Aunelulth di Vykladei
SIBLINGS: Weyog, Sgos, Adulese, and Vrelvel
HISTORY: Tovpir (meaning: arachnid) was named, by mistake, very appropriately. A cunning, smooth-tongued liar who took his time in seducing poor little Aunelulth (artist). Perhaps it was not so unfortunate for the woman at the time, for he wooed her as though he truly loved her. But in the end, as it always seems to be so, the man would not remain with the woman after he 'gifted' her with his seed. Tovpir, when he was alive, suffered from the effects of schizophrenia. For the entirety of his life he'd doubted his true purpose on the planet and he could never form true bonds with other individuals because he doubted their loyalty. The same went for Aunelulth, despite her best efforts to prove to him that he was her only one. When their pups were nine months old he murdered her, convinced the children were not his own. He left them to die, or live; at that point, he didn't much care. They were then faced with the burden of fate.
Two of the four pups were born with the symptoms of schizophrenia. Some, however, were luckier than others. Weyog, his pure black coat the perfect match to his temper, came out with the disease far stronger than even his father, and it seemed he was determined to ruin the chances of escape for his siblings. As 'teenagers', Weyog had surpassed his siblings in size and animosity, so there was not so much as a climb to the top as a single step. Within two months, he had Jesk and Sgos locked away in an abandoned bear den (which he had spent four months expanding with numerous disorienting tunnels over miles beneath the earth), keeping them hostage for some devious plan he had in store. With them out of the way, he went back for Adulese and Vrelvel. This, however, did not go so well to plan. Adulese was dead within minutes, and Vrelvel (the only one remaining) had escaped.
Jesk and Sgos, upon Weyog's absence, managed to escape the tunnels by searching through and finding a smaller exit/entrance Weyog had created. The path was clear from there and the ensuing run was long and hard; they made it out with minimal cuts and bruises. Unfortunately, Sgos died of starvation in roughly three weeks, and Jesk (forced by circumstance) fed on a scanty limb of his body. She was disgusted with herself, but it gave her the strength she needed to attempt/discover her neat little knack for catching birds. Her new-found talent would do her no use for long, for the girl was captured by a breeding facility shortly after she left Sogs' body behind.
Living for nearly a year among the cages and upwalkers is not an experience she likes to avidly remember; but those memories are now sunken into her mind. Being handled by strange creatures, being isolated but hearing the other wolves around her- Jesk likens her phase of captivity to the one brought on by her brother Weyrog, but at least then she'd been in the company of Sgos. The only upside to being in the breeding facility was that they nursed her back to health before finally releasing her. Oh, and they didn't bother breeding her before releasing her either, for which she would have been grateful if only she'd known it to be a possibility.
